Up-to-date and detailed information on applying to start school in September can be found on the Local Authority Admissions website:
Somerset Council Starting School for the First Time
At Stoke St Gregory, our Planned Admission Number (PAN) is 11 per year group, and we have a total capacity of 77 pupils. In accordance with Somerset Council Guidelines, the over-subscription criteria apply if the number of applications received exceeds the number of places on offer. Please read our Admissions Arrangements at the bottom of this page for more information.
If you would like to visit the school and have a tour, please contact the school office.
We manage our own in-year admissions and can allocate your child a place at the school on receipt of a completed in-year application form (available to download at the bottom of this page). If we are full in that particular year group, we may need to refuse your application. You will then receive information from Somerset Local Authority, who are the Admission Authority, about how to appeal and what other school places are available locally.
Where an application has been refused in any year group, the child will be placed on a waiting list. This will be kept strictly in order of over-subscription criteria by the Local Authority, as the Admission Authority, and the child will remain on the waiting list until the end of the academic year in which the application was refused. Parents are responsible for informing the Admission Authority of any changes in their circumstances which could affect their place on the waiting list.
A school catchment area is a defined geographical boundary that determines which children are eligible to attend a particular school based on their residential address. This system helps manage admissions and ensure local children can attend nearby schools. You can check your child's catchment school by clicking on the link below and entering your address. We use this tool to confirm whether your child is in catchment when processing your application and considering the over-subscription criteria, if appropriate, in the event of an appeal.
